Althea W.
Hannis
Mar 7, 1929 — Oct 17, 2026
Althea W. Hannis, 97, passed away on October 17, 2026, at Sacred Heart Senior Living in Center Valley, PA, surrounded by her loving family. Born on March 7, 1929, in Allentown, she was the daughter of the late Paul Werner and Jean (Koder) Werner. Althea attended Allen High School and carried the values of her upbringing throughout her life with quiet strength, grace, and kindness.
Althea was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. She was the beloved wife of Raymond Hannis, with whom she shared 50 years of marriage until his passing in 1997. Together, they built a loving home and a family that remained the center of her life. She was a gentle woman whose presence brought comfort to those around her, and she will be remembered for the warmth and steadiness she gave so freely to others.
Althea spent many years working at a clothing manufacturer until her retirement. Even after retiring, she remained active and later worked part time at a temp service. She approached her work with dedication and reliability, and she was known for her strong work ethic and quiet determination. Her life reflected the values of perseverance, responsibility, and care for others.
A longtime and faithful member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Allentown, Althea found strength in her faith and fellowship in her church community. She also enjoyed water aerobics at Good Shepherd and was an avid reader, finding joy and companionship in the pages of a good book. These simple pleasures enriched her days and reflected the thoughtful and peaceful way she lived her life.
