Russell W. Bender

Russell W. Bender, 92, of Bethlehem, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 30, 2018 while in the care of Saucon Valley Manor. He was the loving husband of the late Lena R. (Schiavone) Bender, who passed away in 1971. Born in Allentown, he was the son of the late Russell K. and Eva B. (Benner) Bender. Russell was a self-employed carpenter and bricklayer for many years before retiring. He honorably served with the U.S. Army Signal Corps during WWII. Russell was a historian and a member of St. Mark's United Church of Christ, Allentown. He was also a member of the VFW Post 245, Quakertown and the American Legion Fullerton Post.

SURVIVORS: He will be lovingly remembered by his sister in law Concetta Berry of Bethlehem; brother in law Pasquale Schiavone and his wife Cynthia of Bethlehem; nephews Samuel Ninfo and his wife Susan of Bethlehem and Michael Schiavone of Bethlehem and many loving great nieces and nephews.

SERVICES: A Funeral Service will be held at 1:30 PM on Tuesday, December 4, 2018 at the Cantelmi Long Funeral Home, 500 Linden Street, Bethlehem, PA 18018, where the family will receive friends and relatives from 12:30 PM until the time of the service. Burial with military honors will follow at Holy Saviour Cemetery, Bethlehem. A memory tribute may be placed at www.cantelmifuneralhome.com.
