Olive Mae Carnes, 91, of Bethlehem passed away peacefully on Monday, November 13, 2017 at St. Luke's Hospice House, surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of the late Giles P. Carnes, Sr. Born in Bethlehem PA, she was the daughter of the late James Oliver, Sr. and Edna Mae (Bumgardener) Smith. Olive was a graduate of Liberty High School. She worked as a Certified Nurses Aide for most of her life at St. Luke's Hospital, Fountain Hill. Olive also worked at the Bethlehem Hotel as a waitress and at Lehigh University as a cook. She loved to dance. Olive was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
Survivors: she will be lovingly remembered by her children Darlene Berry, Patrice Smith, Giles. P Carnes, Jr., Timothy Carnes and his wife Gwen and Tyrone Carnes all of Bethlehem; sister Zora Felton of Washington, DC; 19 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren. Olive was preceded in death by her daughter Sharon Belisaire and 5 brothers and 2 sisters.
Services: A memorial service will be held at 6 P.M. on Friday, November 17, 2017 at the Cantelmi Long Funeral Home, 500 Linden Street, Bethlehem, PA 18018 where the family will receive relatives and friends from 5 P.M. until time of service. Contributions: In lieu of flowers, contribution may be made to the funeral home to assist the family with funeral expenses.
