Rev. Marvin R. Henkelmann, 90, of Moravian Hall Square, peacefully entered the nearer presence of his Lord on Tuesday, January 29, 2019. He was the loving husband of Wilma C. (Stoltz) Henkelmann with whom he shared over 67 years of marriage. Born in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, he was the son of the late Theodore and Leokadia (Adams) Henkelmann. Marvin graduated from Moravian College in 1950 with a B.A. in classical languages. In Spring of 1953 Marvin completed the requirements at Moravian Theological Seminary and attained a Master of Divinity Degree. Marvin served as the Assistant Pastor at Central Moravian Church of Bethlehem; Memorial Moravian Church in St. Thomas, US Virgin Islands; College Hill Moravian Church of Bethlehem; Covina Moravian Church of California; First Moravian Church of York, PA; Calvary Moravian Church in Allentown, PA and Coopersburg Moravian Church. One of Marvin's greatest satisfactions was serving for nearly 30 years on the Boards of Moravian Manor in Lititz, PA and Moravian Hall Square in Nazareth, PA. He was there to see the Manor rise midst an open field near Lititz and Hall Square cover the grassy hillside in Nazareth.
Survivors: In addition to his loving wife Wilma, he will be lovingly remembered by his daughter, Linda Gipson and her husband Gary of Allentown; sons, Wayne Henkelmann and his wife Yvonne of Ocala, Florida and Brian Henkelmann and his wife Marika of Jonesboro, AR; 4 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Marvin was preceded in death by his siblings Wilbert, Harold, Edwin, Herbert and Alfred Henkelmann.
Services: A memorial service will take place on Saturday, February 2, 2019 at 11:00 A.M. in Moravian Hall Square, Kortz Hall, 175 W North St, Nazareth, 18064. Cantelmi-Long Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements. A memorial tribute may be placed at www.cantelmifuneralhome.com.
