Marie Kaplan Obituary

Marie M. Kaplan, 87, of Allentown, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 8, 2019 surrounded by her family. She was the daughter of the late Metro and Anna (Blahout) Kesack. She was the widow of the late Robert D. Kaplan, Sr. with whom she shared 61 years of marriage. Marie was a graduate of Liberty High School, class of 1949 where she was a member of the cheerleading squad. Marie worked for Westminster Village until retiring in 1998, when she became a fulltime Nana and Great Nana. She was a member of First Baptist Church where she served faithfully for over 40 years as camp counselor at Camp Ichthus, teacher and student in children and adult Sunday school programs, lay pastor, congregational care team, the "50 something group" and the "FBC seniors". No longer able to make the long drive to FBC - Marie quickly got involved at Faith Church in Allentown where she was active in the seniors bible study and Sunday school programs. Marie was an avid bowler, with Clubhouse 55, the Rose Bowl Classic league and the Fountain Hill "Bennies". She enjoyed spending time with her "Get up and Go" group at Lehigh Valley Hospital.
