Marie Edelman Obituary
Marie Rose Edelman ("Aunt Marie"), 92, of Schnecksville, PA passed away peacefully at home on Monday November 26, 2018, with Chloe, her constant cat companion, at her side. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Charles ‘Junie' Edelman, who died in 1980.
Born in Bethlehem on February 27, 1926, Marie was the daughter of the late Anna (Martin) Rose and William Rose. Marie's passion was her family. Junie was the love of her life and she was most proud of her son Craig. Her former home in Bethlehem was the go-to place for gatherings, and she enjoyed having her great nieces Megan and Erin, and her great-nephew Sean, who she considered to be her grandchildren, there all the time. When ‘the kids' were not at Marie's house, she was happily attending their school, sporting, and music events.
Marie loved animals and especially delighted in taking care of her ‘charges,' Chloe, Carly, and Lukey, as well as having visits from ‘Tiny Aunt Marie,' who was named after her. An avid Penn State and Pittsburgh Steelers fan, she frequently wore team attire, rarely missed a game, and enjoyed rehashing the games with her friends. Marie worked at Bethlehem Steel, where she made numerous lifelong friends. After retirement, she treasured her monthly lunches with those friends.
Marie will be lovingly remembered by her son Craig and his wife Vee, of Harrisburg, PA; her niece Marie Maritch and her husband Ken, with whom she resided; her brother in-law, Donald Lichty, of Allentown, PA; nephews Mark Lichty, Mike Lichty, Matt Lichty, and Marty Lichty, all of Allentown, PA; great niece Megan Maritch and her companion Zack Anewalt, of Charleston, SC; great niece Erin Maritch and great nephew Sean Maritch, both of Schnecksville, PA; niece Becky Transue of Allentown, PA; and numerous friends throughout the country. Marie was predeceased by her sisters Ellen Lichty, Gladys Voortman, and Anna Transue, and her brother William Rose.
Services: A graveside service will be held at Bethlehem Memorial Park, Bethlehem, PA at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, December 1, 2018. Friends and family are invited to gather afterwards at her residence for a remembrance and celebration of what Marie meant to us all.
