Eric R. Shimer, 72, of Bethlehem, passed away at home on Sunday, November 25, 2018. He was the loving husband of Barbara (Fairback) Shimer, with whom he shared over 36 years of marriage.
Born in Allentown, Ric was the son of the late Acton J. and Eleanor L. (Keim) Shimer. He was a graduate of Liberty High School in 1964, of Moravian College in 1968, and of Villanova School of Law in 1973. He was drafted into the US Army in 1968, and served as a Grenadier in the 196th Infantry Brigade in Vietnam. In 1973, he was admitted to the Pennsylvania Bar, and served as an attorney until his retirement in 2012. Ric was also a member of the Bethlehem Jaycees, American Red Cross, Korea / Vietnam Memorial, and American Legion Post 379, where he was a member of the Honor Guard.
Survivors: wife Barbara; son William and his wife Kellie; daughter Susan Olinik and her husband Matthew; brother Jary W. Shimer and his wife Julie; sister Lori Hamilton; cousin Polly Fiddler and her husband Andrew; grandsons Jacob and John; a niece and a nephew.
Services: Funeral Services will be held at 11 AM on Friday, November 30, in the Cantelmi Long Funeral Home, 500 Linden St., Bethlehem, 18018, where friends may call from 10 AM until time of services.
