Elmer Brogdon Obituary
Elmer F. Brogdon, of Bethlehem, passed away peacefully on his 95th Birthday on Thursday, November 23, 2017, at Sacred Heart Senior Living, Saucon Valley. He was the loving husband of the late Lois (Townes) Brogdon, who died in 2008, and with whom he would have celebrated 67 years of marriage on the day of his death.
Born in Hopewell, VA, Elmer was the son of the late Leslie L. and Della (Dudley) Brogdon. He served his country in the US Army Air Corps during WWII, stationed in the Southwest Pacific theatre. He graduated from Virginia Tech University in 1949, and began his career with Bethlehem Steel Corp., becoming a manager in the Metallurgical Department and retiring in 1977. He continued working as a Supervisor for Mack Trucks, finally retiring again in 1986. Elmer was a member of East Hills Moravian Church, where he served as a Sacristan, Elder and Head Usher. He was also a member of the Men of Muhlenberg.
Survivors: daughters Alison Sarkozy and her husband Bela of Bethlehem, Sandra Greene of Lansdale; grandchildren Melissa Greene, and Erin Sarkozy and her fiancé Jason McKenna; great-grandson Nathaniel. Elmer was predeceased by his siblings John L. Brogdon, Leslie M. Brogdon, Jeffrey M. Brogdon and Louise Peeples.
Services: Funeral services will be held at 11 AM on Wednesday, November 29, in the Cantelmi Long Funeral Home, 500 Linden St, Bethlehem, 18018, where friends may call from 10 AM until time of services.
