Curtis Robert Frankenfield, 89, of Bethlehem passed away peacefully on Monday, April 2, 2018 while in the care of Saucon Valley Manor. He was predeceased by his wife, Mary Ann (Hildabrant) Frankenfield with whom he celebrated 60 year of marriage, his brothers William and Richard Frankenfield. Born in Bethlehem, he was the son of the late William and Elizabeth Frankenfield.
Curtis proudly served in the United States Coast Guard. He was active in Scouting for many years, specifically Boy Scout Troop 7 and was the recipient of the Silver Beaver Award in 1964.
Curtis was a Foreman at the Bethlehem Steel Company in the Steam, Water and Air department for 38 years. He was a member of the Old Bethlehem Steel Club, the Del-Hi Power Squadron, the Northend Wanderers and a lifetime member of the Heights AA. Curtis enjoyed camping, boating and spending time with his family at their home in Sun Valley. His greatest passion was being a volunteer fireman for 65 years where he was proud to serve as a Chief from 1989-1991 in Bethlehem Township Station 17.
Survivors: Daughter Peggy Gencarelli and husband Ray of Bethlehem Township; Sons Kurt Frankenfield and wife Catherine of Allentown, Jeffrey Frankenfield and wife Sallie of Hellertown, Frank Frankenfield and wife Kelly of Allentown; grandchildren Jennifer, Bryan, Jarade, Jena, Rocky, Jack, Eric and Jason; great-grandchildren Peyton, Jordan, Taylor, Jelissa, Jackson, Hudson, Harper, Liam, Noah, Ella Rose, Gavin and Lillian.
Services: A funeral service will be held at 10 A.M. on Thursday, April 5, 2018 at the Cantelmi Long Funeral Home, 500 Linden Street, Bethlehem, PA 18018. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. and also on Thursday morning from 9:00 A.M. until time of service in the funeral home. Burial will take place at Bethlehem Memorial Park Cemetery. A memory tribute may be placed at www.cantelmifuneralhome.com.
