Clara Kavas Obituary

Clara (Barto) Kavas, 99, formerly of Bethlehem, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 9, 2018, at Gracedale Nursing Home, Nazareth. She was the wife of the late John Kavas, who died in 2003.

Born in Macungie, Clara was the daughter of the late Ambrose and Ida (Kriebel) Barto. She loved being a mother and raising her family, and was a great cook and baker for her family and friends. She and her husband travelled extensively, including Hawaii, Germany and South America. She enjoyed volunteering with Meals on Wheels, and also enjoyed many trips to the casinos. Clara was a member of Rosemont Lutheran Church, and also attended Christ Lutheran Church in Hellertown.

Survivors: Children Yvonne Slapinsky and her husband Joseph of Macungie, Lucille Kavas and her partner Martha Brunkhorst of Kempton, Ronald Kavas and his wife Jacqualine of New Egypt, NJ; 8 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren. Clara was predeceased by her husband, and by her siblings Lucille McFetridge, Mabel
Powers, Betty Gackenbach, Charles Barto, and Willard Donley.

Services: A Memorial Service will be held at 11 AM on Tuesday, August 28, in the Cantelmi Long Funeral Home, 500 Linden St., Bethlehem, 18018, where friends may call from 10 AM until time of services. Interment will follow at Cedar Hill Memorial Park, Allentown. A memory tribute may be placed at www.cantelmifuneralhome.com
