Eileen Drummond Obituary

Eileen T (O’Brien) Drummond, 80, formerly of Coopersburg, more recently of Phoebe Home Allentown, passed away surrounded by her children and grandchildren on Sunday, September 8, 2019 at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Cedar Crest.  She was the wife of the late Patrick J. Drummond.  Eileen and Patrick were married for 58 years.  Born in Staten Island, NY, she was the daughter of the late John and Beatrice (Cassidy) O’Brien.  While in her 40s, Eileen went back to school and earned a certificate in Licensed Practical Nursing from L.C.C.C.  She worked at Sacred Heart Hospital, Allentown for a number of years before working as a nurse in the office of Dr. Donald Sledz, Allentown. For a short time, she volunteered as an in-home hospice nurse.  She was a gifted nurse who always found a way to offer comfort, kindness, and compassion to her patients.  While Eileen loved nursing, what brought her the most joy and happiness in life was her family.  She was proud of her family and most especially loved spending time with her grandchildren and her great grandson, all who affectionately called her Mamó. Eileen was a member of Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church, Bethlehem.  Along with her husband Patrick, Eileen was extremely proud of her Irish heritage and language and was a member of Daltai Na Gaeilge.

Survivors: She will lovingly be remembered by her sons Padraig and wife Corinne of Centre Hall, Edward and wife Doris of Collegeville, Kevin and wife Carol of Independence, OH, John and wife Sharon of New Ringgold; daughters Mary Eck of Center Valley, Karen Burke and husband Thomas of Fountain Hill; grandchildren Seamus, Brian, Caitlin, Sinead, Niya, Shelby, Aedan, Eamonn, Declan, and Margaret; great grandchild Jude. Siblings John from Bangor, James from Tuckerton, NJ, Mae from Castlerea, Co. Roscommon Ireland, Michael from Walnutport, and Edward from Middletown, MD. Eileen was preceded in death by her brothers Thomas and William and her granddaughter Ellen.
