Earl W. Dreisbach

Earl W. “Gramps” Dreisbach, a cherished family man, respected community member, and avid baseball enthusiast, passed away peacefully on March 20, 2024, at the age of 90. Born on September 27, 1933, in Fountain Hill, Earl was a man whose life was marked by dedication, service, and the joy he found in the simple pleasures of life.

Earl spent his final moments in the comfort of his granddaughter's home, surrounded by the loving embrace of his family. His passing was a gentle one, reflective of the kindness and warmth he extended to all who knew him throughout his life.

Earl was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Geraldine "Nan" (DeLeo) Dreisbach, his parents, Wilmer, and Mary (Repash) Dreisbach, his sister Frances Dreisbach, and his nephew James Blaukovitch. He leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion in his daughter Anne Marie Brown, his grandson Christopher Sule and his wife Kelly and family Taylor Laudenslager and Kylie, his granddaughter Jennifer Hellgren, Jarrett, and his great-grandson Kaden. His brother Edward Dreisbach and his wife Sandra also survive him, carrying forward the memories of a life well-lived.

A proud alumnus of Fountain Hill High School, class of 1951, Earl's commitment to his community was evident from his early years. He was nicknamed “Noodles” by his friends in the hill. His dedication to service continued as he honorably served in the United States Army. Upon returning to civilian life, Earl worked for the City of Bethlehem, where he became the Supervisor of the Streets Department. He held this position for most of his life until his well-deserved retirement.

Earl's passion for baseball was a thread that ran through his entire life. From 1953 to 1956, he was a member of the St. Louis Cardinals Organization, a time he often reminisced about with great fondness. His love for the game didn't stop there; from 1959 to 1979, he played for and managed the Bethlehem Cardinals, where his skill and sportsmanship earned him a place in the Blue Mountain League Hall of Fame and also as an active committee member.

A devout member of the Notre Dame of Bethlehem Catholic Church, Earl's faith was a cornerstone of his existence. His belief system guided him through life's challenges and triumphs and was a source of comfort and strength to him and his family.

Services: A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 A.M. on Tuesday, March 26, 2024, at Notre Dame Catholic Church, 1861 Catasauqua Rd, Bethlehem, PA 18018. Calling hours will be held on Monday evening from 6 P.M. to 8 P.M. at the Cantelmi Long Funeral Home, 500 Linden Street Bethlehem, PA 18018 and also on Tuesday morning from 9:30 A.M. until time of the Mass in the church. Burial with Military honors will follow at Holy Ghost Cemetery. A memory tribute may be placed at www.cantelmifuneralhome.com.
