Rita Strohl Obituary

Rita P. Strohl, 95, of Bethlehem, passed away on Monday, October 23, 2017 at Holy Family Manor. She was the wife of the late Richard J. Strohl, who passed away in 2004. Born on November 3, 1921 in Stroudsburg, she was the daughter of the late Ellsworth and Leila (Wagner) Palmer. Rita was a graduate of the Wilson Area High School and had continued her education at Kutztown University, receiving her Bachelor's degree in Education and her Master's degree from Bloomsburg University. She also received her degree in Interior Design from Pratt Institute. She was a member of the Delta Kappa Gamma Honorary Teacher's Organization and was active with the Brown & Lynch Post #9 American Legion Auxiliary in Palmer. Rita was a special education teacher at Intermediate Unit 20 for 29 years, retiring in 1987. Surviving: Rita will be lovingly remembered by her children, Jeffrey and his wife, Valerie of Phoenix, AZ, Eric and his wife, Frances of Nazareth; grandchildren, Michael Strohl of Saratoga Springs, NY, Tracy Garguilo of Easton, Joelle Strahler of Allentown, Raegan Brown of Spring, TX; nine great-grandchildren; siblings, Dr. Vera Krisukas of Allentown, Lee Palmer and his wife Catherine of Gaines, PA and Ft. Myers, FL, James Palmer and his wife Beth of Vale, OR. She was predeceased by sons, Randy and Terry; siblings, Mary Lees, Walter "Bud" Palmer, and Joy Wallace. Services: Private and at the convenience of the family. Rita's arrangements have been entrusted to Cantelmi Funeral Home, 1311 Broadway, Fountain Hill.
