Larry E. Bonstein, Sr., 76, of Bethlehem, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family on Friday, January 5, 2018 in his home. He was husband of Verna (Dittmar), with whom he shared 45 years of loving marriage. Born in Easton, he was the son of the late Ernest and Edna (Smith) Bonstein. Larry worked as a crossing guard for the City of Bethlehem for many years, until recently retiring. He also worked as a janitor for Jefferson Smurfit, a sorter for UPS, and in the pigment Dept. for Pfizer. Besides working, Larry enjoyed collecting VHS tapes and watching movies. Surviving: In addition to his loving wife Verna, daughter Michelle Hornberger and husband Tom of Whitehall; sons Larry Bonstein, Jr. and wife Denise of Northampton, Darren Bonstein of Bethlehem; sister Erna Bonstein of Easton; grandchildren, Daniel, Tommy, Christopher, and Allison. He was predeceased by his son Trevor. Services: A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday January 10, 2018 at Cantelmi Long Funeral Home, 500 Linden Street Bethlehem, PA 18018, where the family will receive relatives and friends from 10:00 AM until the time of the service. His burial with military honors will be at St. Johns Lutheran Cemetery in Williams Twp. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the funeral home.
