Hilda I. Houck-Transue, 100, of Bethlehem, passed away peacefully on Thursday September 21, 2017 at St. Luke's Hospice House in Lower Saucon Twp. She was the wife of the late Emery Houck for 44 years who passed away on Feb. 14, 1979, and to the late Winfield Transue for 18 years who passed away on March 10, 2003. Born in Bethlehem, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Laura (Flore) Ungerer. Hilda worked from a young age at Kramer Hosery in Nazareth, then meat departments at various stores including Schoenen's Market and A&P Tea Co. She also worked for Stanley Home Products, where she was a top salesperson. Hilda was a active member of Ebeneezer Bible Fellowship Church, where she was a member of the prayer group, and the women missionary society. She was also a member of the Bible Study Group in Bethlehem. She enjoyed knitting and crocheting and spending time with her family. Survivors: she will be lovingly remembered by her son Dr. Charles Houck and his wife Angeline; stepdaughter Nancy Wutka and her husband Michael of Florida; 4 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchilden. She was predeceased by her sister and life long best friend Esther, brothers Charles, Warren, Harold, Howard and Floyd. Services: A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday September 27, 2017 at the Cantelmi Long Funeral Home, 500 Linden Street, Bethlehem, PA 18018, where the family will receive relatives and friends from 10:00 AM until time of service. Burial will take place at Bethlehem Memorial Park Cemetery. A memory tribute may be placed at www.longfuneralhome.com.
