Catharine Maza Obituary
Catharine T. Maza (Turner), age 91, of Bethlehem, passed away on June 19, 2017 at Lehigh Valley Muhlenberg Hospital. She was the loving wife of Robert J. Maza who passed on June 7, 2014.
Born in DuBois, Pa, she was the daughter of the late Robert F. and late Catharine (Braund) Turner.
Catharine received her Bachelors Degree from Juniata College and continued her education and love for music at Columbia and Penn State where she obtained two Masters Degrees.
She taught at several schools in Bethlehem including Northeast Junior High School, and Moravian Preparatory School (Moravian Academy). Catharine developed and launched the initial music education curriculum at Moravian College, where she was Professor of Music Education for seven years. She was an active member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Allentown.
Catharine was a loving wife, Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother. She is survived by her sons; Joel T. Maza with wife, Barbara and Robert J. Maza with wife, Kim. Daughter-in-law, Glenda Garza with daughter, Rachel Bonano, 7 Grandchildren and 5 Great Grandchildren; Leah Edwards and her husband Robert with their children Robert and Ashlynn, Aaron Maza with Rachael and his children Jack and Sam, Lindey Maza-Collins and her wife Veronica, Robert E. Maza, Darbey Maza, Jendy Maskornick and her son Nickolas Cruz. In addition to her husband and parents, Catharine is preceded in death by her brother, Daniel Turner and sister Louise Turner.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 24 2017 at 2pm at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 37 S. 5th St. Allentown, PA 18101. Family and Friends may call from 1pm until the time of the service. Interment to follow at Cedar Hill Memorial Park. Catharine's services are entrusted to Cantelmi Long Funeral Home.
